God has made us to live interdependently. This requires us to make sure that we share in the needs and joys of each other. Although for us the first responsibility to cover this need is the small groups, we see the additional need for a group of people specifically gifted and free to be available to share in this responsibility.

What’s a ‘Home Group’? It is when a small group of Christians get together to encourage each other in their Christian lives. At The Orchard we see participation within a small group as very important for our growth as Christians. It is within the life of these groups that we form closer relationships with people and so appreciate in a greater way the benefits of the ‘one- another’ teachings of the Bible. E.g. teach, correct, serve, love, honour, wash feet, care, share the load, kind, forgive, submit, comfort, etc one-another.
Also within these groups we enjoy a greater sense of belonging and partnership.
These groups are also great avenues from which we can serve our community, showing and sharing Jesus love to others.
It is often within the relationships of a small group that we discover and develop the special gifts we are all given by God. E.g. teaching, serving, administration, pastor, mercy, encouragement etc.
We like each group to be 8 to 12 in size, this allows for the best group dynamics. It is hoped that each group would grow and then split. We love positive growth splits!!
The groups all have a different flavour owing to who leads. Some have a greater teaching flavour, while another may wrestle life issues, seeking to discover what the Bible has to say.
The age make-up can also determine the culture of the group.
So by now you will have guessed that we see the need for everyone to join a small group.
We have 14 groups at present and I know you will find one that meets your needs.

Sunday services are often the most visible aspect of a church yet they are only the tip of an iceberg. They are an avenue for us to meet together as a church family and worship together, encourage one another, be challenged and inspired through gifted teachers and in grace challenge, and hold one another accountable. Yes all things that we aspire to throughout our weeks, yet on Sunday we do so together as a family.
Sunday services also provide a window into our lives. We’d love for you to join us and see what ‘Christianity’ is all about. you’re welcome to turn up, watch and chat with us about it. Services are 10:00 am Sundays
Not so long ago we took a tremendous step of faith to build and move into our new facilities here at The Orchard, some time before we did this we considered as a Church what we were really striving for, this dream was formed from a united hope for the future. (more…)
